Hangover helper
Fri, January 2, 2009 @ 10:28AM
Happy 2009. I’m not hungover. But I’m sure some of you are, or were yesterday, or will be tomorrow. So what do you do about it? And don’t give me any of that “Don’t drink too much” or “alternate alcoholic with non-alcoholic drinks” crap. I used to swear by McDonalds when I was in middle school...I mean high school...I mean college. When I was in Germany, a few friends and I had a tradition of Sunday-morning breakfasts. Those big continental breakfasts helped, although not as much as a traditional, fatty, greasy American/British breakfast of fried eggs, some kind of meat, potatoes and whatever else you cans squeeze in the frying pan. One of my best hangover meals was in Debrecen, Hungary, courtesy of my friends Gabor, Peter and Vicky. It consisted of goose liver spread on bread, lamb brain soup, and an entree of some sort of mystery meat (pork I was told) with fried potatoes. True story. There is also, of course, the option of having another drink or t

Adirondack Climate Change
Thu, November 20, 2008 @ 3:37PM
The purpose of this blog is to explore the topic of climate change in the Ådirondacks. It will analyze possible causes, consequences and solutions. Some of these topics may be local; others may be more universal. On the flip side, I’ll consider opinions that climate change is completely false. That scientists have created this theory with smoke and mirrors. Is the fate of our environment headed down a pathway that is as bleak as some scientists say it is? Being in the heart of the Adirondack Park, with its large tracts of protected wilderness, this is a question that deserves some attention.

Parking Meter Update
Thu, January 1, 2009 @ 12:20PM
As many have noticed our new parking meters are covered with plastic garbage bags . The official story from the Mayor Rogers is that there is a wiring problem, as reported by Chris Knight. The real story according to a reliable source is that apparently our brain trust never set up bank accounts that allow them to receive payments from credit cards. Tax dollars hard at work.

Hot Rod!
Mon, January 5, 2009 @ 9:09PM
The 'Hot' Rod Blagejovic saga is the real reason I love politics. All the happiness after the election of Obama was nice, but it didn't really give me a reason to hate how politics really go, or, for me to continue my massive political cynicism. Then along came Hot Rod. This saga doesn't just concern HR. It includes him, Harry Reid , Roland Burris, Illinois senator Dick Durbin and Brit Hume- they're all fools! It of course started when it became apparent Obama would become president. HR went about trying to overtly capitalize on selling Obama's Senate seat. He went as far to say on tape that if he got an ambassadorship, he could reform his image and maybe run for president !(this from a governor with the worst opinion ratings in the US - they make Bush look like mother Theresa). With this sociopathic belief and enourmously outsized ego, what followed shouldn't be surprising. The FBI had been taping HRs calls - not so secretly. Yet, HR kept right on as if omnipo
